Jimmy John's

I think it is impossible for someone to not like Jimmy John's. (Renee- I may be calling you out a bit, but let's face it. You are one huge anomaly in this case). Let's just talk about all the awesome things that Jimmy John's offers

  • FREAKY FAST. Today, a cold and rainy day in the Thrill, it only took the guy 20 minutes to get to the DTH and he came upstairs into the office. I didn't have to go downstairs and face the elements for even a second!
    • side note: I complained A LOT that it took him 20 minutes....spoiled much?
  • Healthy? I pretend it is. I get the Turkey Tom so it's basically just vegetables, some turkey and bread. I get light mayo so I feel like I am eating the healthiest thing to grace the planet (uh...)
  • They're funny. The stupid little shits they hang around their store get me EVERY time. Like, I know what they say before I go in because I used to go all the time in high school, but it is still so funny to me.
  • They once gave me two free sleeves of cups. Easily about 40 cups altogether and that is no exaggeration at all; just stop by ole Basnight and check em out yourself. You could even go to Chapel Ridge and see some because SOMEONE (Becky..) stole some from a tailgate at my house.
I can't come up with any other reasons to like Jimmy John's. I mean, I could say that it tastes good but I think that is just pretty obvious since I'm devoting a whole blog to them.

I should probably hate them because they did not run one single dollar of advertising money with me and then went around my back and had their agency run national ads with Meaghan. Still bitter, but not bitter enough to boycott them.

So, thank you to "America's favorite sandwich delivery guys!" (Their words, not mine..)
In case you want to order your own now after reading this lovely post

Here I Go Again

Once again, I'm writing a post about how I haven't written a post in awhile. Damn, I'm bad at this. BUT trying something now that should be a bit more manageable than anything I've done before.

Muh girl Elle and I are texting each other pictures of our meals to keep each other accountable. So the thought process is that if I'm too embarrassed/ashamed of what I am eating to show her, then I probably shouldn't be eating it. Let's just say we'll start after that queso we had today....but HEY at least I didn't order a marg at all.

Two foiiine ladies taking control over our diet
I don't have too much else to say so this is super brief. Here's a nice pic of the fajita's I ate today with a special shoutout (weird this has happened twice...) to my favorite place in Chapel Hill: Cinco de Mayo

Happy eating, y'all. I'm gonna go mourn the loss of our first trivia loss in LITERALLY a month.

OOPS

Well......oops. I'm like, really good at this whole blogging thing apparently. BUT now that Kerry and I are team South Beach I guess I can hop back on board with this thing.

Team South Beach (pre South Beach duh)

If you want a summary of what's been goin down since I last blogged, check my Twitter out. (attn family..DO NOT check my twitter out). It's been pretty crazy since the big change and I have certainly been having fun. But now it's time to buckle down and get shit done

In the past week I have lost 2 pounds (almost to Regina status) though so that's fun! I have also lost my voice and my sunglasses.

Basically, phase 1 of South Beach (from what Kerry's told me. She's done it before so she's the pro) says that you can't eat carbs or sugar for two weeks. You aren't supposed to drink alcohol at all or eat more than 30 nuts a day but sometimes a girl needs a beer or one extra pistachio. Hey, like I initially said when I made this blog, slow process/changing lifestyle.

Even if I goof up and have nine one margarita at dinner or let myself eat extra almonds, I know it's a million times better than what I normally eat. I am eating less, quantity-wise, and much better quality-wise. A normal day in the office consists of my eating no real food and a boatload of peanut butter M&Ms and Junior Mints out of my boss' office. Then when work ends I would continue with the IV of sugar into my bloodstream and Mexican food. Now I'm packing lunches with Kerry and cooking our own dinners.

I've been extra good about keeping up with my workouts though! I found a "fat blasting workout" on Pinterest that I've been doing every day along with 30 minutes of cardio. The cardio isn't really happening every day but man do I blast that fat like it's my job!

I also found a lot of inspiration quotes on Pinterest that have all had their turn as my iPhone background. My favorite one/most used one is the one about not being remembered as the fat friend. I'm conceited confident enough to know that I am/should be the hot friend, so why shouldn't everyone else think so? Here's a couple of them in case you want to steal them. Who am I to judge?

After today's workout I finally realized how true this is

The journey begins and dis chick is about to be HOT

I'm going to try and keep up with this a lot more but I probably won't be posting all of them to Facebook because I don't wanna be "that blog girl" but you know as soon as I have a rockin bod I'm going to a) get a spray tan b) celebrate with a vodka seltzer and c) post pics of me/my hot bod doing active things like running or walking from the car to the Cinco de Mayo patio.

Grocery Shopping

I have this weird love-hate relationship with grocery shopping and I'm not too sure what to do with it. I love just strolling up and down the aisles and finding fun, new things to make/eat but then I accidentally end up spending like $500 and that is no bueno. I also have a really bad habit of going grocery shopping while I'm hungry. Isn't that breaking the #1 cardinal rule of grocery shopping? I think so.

As I was moving back into my house today, I realized that there are NO groceries here. Our Brita filter wasn't even full. But, I didn't go grocery shopping at all. Why? Because I am procrastinating. I hope to find a bunch of recipes that all use relatively similar ingredients so that I can just buy those but not eat the same thing for 7 days in a row. Thoughts? They are welcomed.

Tonight is our work dinner/party, so I get a free meal and lots of fun! I am looking forward to getting back into the swing of things and having to be at work each day really makes it feel like the beginning of the semester.

Happy Sunday, and go Skins! Hail!!

Back to Work!

Welp, looks like I forgot to keep up with my blog posts over the holidays! That's alright though because I maintained a (relatively) healthy lifestyle even though I wasn't blogging. Yesterday, I went skiing with two of my absolute most favorite people in the entire world for about 6 hours. Lightly skiing for 6 hours = 2109 calories burned. WIN.

I have been trying to keep up with some form of exercise every day, whether I'm at the club or just running in my neighborhood. I downloaded this cool app that will play music off your iPhone/iPod that keeps up with the pace that you are running. The only thing is if I start to slow down, so does my music, which I try to use as a motivator. But, there are up/down arrows on the app that you can use to raise the pace, just like on a treadmill. If that's not working for you or you are on a treadmill where your phone sits still, you can just listen to the "Classic Rock Power Workout" Pandora station. It plays the best pump up rocker jams.

As for eating, this is always the most difficult part for me. I would love to be able to just workout every day and have that be the magical solution to all my health and weight concerns. Unfortunately, that's not how it works. My friend introduced me to a new app that I have been using to track my meals using calorie counting. I have done this before and when I keep up with it, it really works! PLUS, it's free which is a bonus over WeightWatchers. You just plug in all the food you ate for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. You also plug in your exercise, which it has divided into cardiovascular and strength, and track your water intake. Any exercise is negative calories taken out of your daily allowance to lose x amount of pounds each week. My favorite part of this is that at the end of the day, you "Complete This Entry" and it tells you how long it would take for you to reach your goal weight if every day was like that day.

Even though I wasn't blogging through the holidays, I was avidly taking pictures on my fabulous iPhone camera so you folks can at least see the meals I was proud of (or thought looked pretty on the plate).

Kildare's Irish Pub grilled salmon, with mashed potatoes and seasonal veggies

My least favorite meal: breakfast. Turkey sausage, clementine, skim milk

Stuffed clam (oyster?) and the coolest cat

Hummus tray, bell peppers, cucumbers, brie

Shrimp salad with bell peppers, celery, and dill

Clementine, Fage 0% Fat Greek Yogurt with blueberry, and the Sunday comics

Some holiday temptations here and above

Welcome to 2013, let's make it a great one!
